Giving without hope of return is what inspired this true story from Thailand. We often give to one another, with the hopes of getting back; whether it is a spoken I love you, a favor given in the hopes of a favor returned. Here it is seen that compassion is simple and the return isn’t always instantaneous. In this case, the compassion was not returned for a long time, but the act of, was never forgotten. But the ripple of compassion went out and a wave of love was returned. Sometimes the simple acts we perform, in the end are returned to us in ways we may not see. So show compassion and wait for nothing, be the hand that gives.
