Top 10 Green Hotels in the US

It's safe to say that green is the new black — especially in the hotel world. From composting and water conservation programs to green roofs and landscaping that provide natural habitats for local species, hotels are striving to help sustain our planet. Along with their favorable ratings, they post their LEED and Green Seal certifications like badges of honor. While we can appreciate a candlelit yurt made out of reclaimed materials, GAYOT's list of the Top 10 Green Hotels in the U.S. shows that being eco-friendly doesn't require giving up luxury. Each property in this collection is notable not only for its attitudes toward the environment, but also for its food scene, sense of style and exceptional level of comfort.

Norway will ban the sale of all fossil fuel-based cars in the next decade, continuing its trend towards becoming one of the most ecologically progressive countries on the planet, according to reports.

How to Turn Your Life into an Awesome Journey

Life can be a celebration, but many of us don’t realize it, and don’t seem to savor the beautiful moments existence is offering us as a gift each and every moment. We are wasting most of our time doing things that we don’t enjoy doing, and our way of life is having tremendous negative effects on our body and our psyche.

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

8 devastating ways America’s children are being poisoned on an everyday basis

A culture is measured by how they treat their most vulnerable. Infants and great grandmothers. Sixty million unknown children being plucked and pulled from what was our sacred space – our womb – indicates just how much we don’t want to be bothered with children. They’re messy, they take too much time… they prevent us from doing everything we want to do, right? And, if they make it through that third trimester intact, we’ll shoot them up with vaccines to bring them up to our level of disease. Or kill them outright. Infants feeding on GMO formula are fungible fodder for sugar death or addiction, obesity, WiFi-fried brains, genderfluid-flowing minds bowing down to their cell phone robot gods.

How To Heal The Emotional Body

Interesting article (and video) about awakening the soul from the-secret-of-manifestation website ~Todd

I wrote about why people battle to transform their state of being whilst using the transform feeling process and describe the biggest obstacle to the transformation of a person’s state of being, is a person not truly being with their feelings as intense as they can, then letting them go without judgement.

Thought for the Day

Our thinking can take us down a road to a destination
that we have no desire to visit,
as in thinking of illness, lack, or disharmony in human relations.  However, at any time before we reach a destination,
we can change directions.
By changing the directions of our thoughts,
we can change our course whenever we choose
and reach a destination of health, happiness, and prosperity.

Escaping the Prison of Materialism: How to Not Let Material Things Take Over Your Life

In the materialistic world that we live, we worship objects and derive pleasure solely from them. We want to possess more and more, thinking that only this way we can live in joy. Our thirst for more material things is never quenched, and we end up even more thirsty, addicted, sad, exhausted.

Animals Now Listed As “Sentient Beings” Rather Than Property In Quebec

The Canadian province of Quebec used to be regarded as a haven for puppy mills, but that has since changed. In a bill tabled in Quebec in 2015, animals are now considered “sentient beings” rather than property. The legislation states:

“Animals are not things.

They are sentient beings

and have biological needs.”

10 of the Top Eco-Destinations in North America

In the 1950s, the world was crisscrossed by some 25 million annual tourists (i.e., overnight visitors). In 2014, according to the Center for Responsible Travel, that number ballooned to nearly 1.2 billion—about a 4,000 percent increase—contributing $7.6 trillion (almost 10 percent) to the world's GDP.
But the sad and inescapable fact is that all our flying, driving and trampling about has also contributed to the destruction of the environment, harming wildlife, historical sites and the livelihoods of indigenous societies around the globe.
As the largest global service industry, tourism can—and should—play a significant role in conservation and environmental sustainability. That was the message that U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon delivered on World Tourism Day in 2012. “One of the world’s largest economic sectors, tourism is especially wellplaced to promote environmental sustainability, 'green' growth and our struggle against climate change through its relationship with energy," he said.

Discover Your Gift and Offer It to the World

Every person on earth is unique and can contribute something original to enrich the beauty of existence, but most of us, not having discovered our individuality and hence our gift, feel unimportant, believing that we don’t have anything beautiful to offer to the world.
Our whole upbringing has made us feel this way. From a very young age, we’ve been conditioned to believe that we are not enough as we are, to do things other than those we enjoy doing, and to follow a predetermined course of life as dictated by others in order to be accepted by society. Naturally, we’ve lost touch with our Self, not realizing our uniqueness and significance.

Bombshell study admits antidepressants increase suicide attempts in teens and are completely worthless for treating depression

A bombshell study published in the medical journal The Lancet admits what Natural News and others in the holistic health community have been reporting for years: antidepressants kill. On Wednesday, researchers published the most comprehensive analysis to date of the safety and efficacy of widely prescribed antidepressants in children and teens.

What they found is that the majority of antidepressants prescribed to young people have far more risks than benefits, doing essentially nothing to ease symptoms of depression, while significantly increasing suicidal thoughts and suicide attemptsCBS News is reporting.

80 Percent of Americans Can’t See the Milky Way Anymore

New sky atlas reveals the worsening state of light pollution,
which has several consequences.

The Milky Way illuminates the sky over Dinosaur National Monument,

The Milky Way galaxy, that torrent of stars that slashes across a deeply darkened night sky, has been a deep well of inspiration from humanity’s earliest days. The ancient Egyptians saw it as a pool of cow’s milk, while in Hindu mythology the arcing galactic arm was likened to a dolphin swimming through the sky. Countless scientists, philosophers, and artists, including Galileo, Aristotle, and Vincent Van Gogh, have drawn upon the galaxy as their muse.

How To Simplify Your Life: A Practical Guide

This is a great article not only does it give you some good ideas on how to simplify your life, it goes a step further and tells you WHY taking the steps are necessary.  ~Todd

What does it mean to live simply?
This is not an easy question to answer, since a “simple life” is understood differently by every person.
For me, to live simply means to let go of all that is unnecessary and stick to the essential, make room in your life for what truly matters to you, spend quality time doing what you are passionate about and be with people you love being with, and, most importantly, find mental clarity and achieve a state of inner peace, so that you can live in happiness, enjoy every moment and be grateful for your life’s wonderful journey.
To live simply, however, is not as simple as it might at first seem. In fact, in the chaotic world that we have created and have been brought up, it can be quite difficult. Our traditions, habits, and overall conditioning prevent us from finding simplicity, and it takes much effort on our part to master the art of living simply.
Now you might ask: “How can I simplify my life?

Thought for the Day

I have chosen to forgive
and spend all of my positive energy
on changing the world."

3 Tools To Forgiveness That You Need To Do Today

Sometimes it’s hard for people to differentiate forgiveness with weakness. Forgiving someone has nothing to do with being weak or the other person being right, instead it has everything to do with your health and the weight that carrying around ill feelings or hatred does to you. irregardless of the details as to the situation that occurred that requires forgiveness, when you forgive it all becomes irrelevant. And it is not about getting the last word in, or karma, or revenge, it is about focusing on how you can be a better person by putting positive energy into the world and if you can do that then you will rise up and fly beyond whatever it is that used to affect you.
Here are 3 tools to help you get to that place.

How to Awaken Your Psychic Power to Feel Your Aura

An aura is an energy field that radiates out from your entire body. It’s radiance has been photographed, and has a very different image than body heat escaping from the body. People have auras of varying intensity and color, which trained mediums attempt to feel, see and decipher.
Although it’s challenging to feel and see another person’s aura (video below), it is not at all difficult to feel your own. Following is the simplest way to feel your own aura.
Another way is to rub your hands together quickly, and then bring them slowly apart. This will help you form a sort of ball between your hands. This is your auric energy.

Resources - Bioneers

We stand at the threshold of a singular opportunity in the human experiment: To re-imagine how to live on Earth in ways that honor the web of life, each other and future generations.

At the same time the world faces the escalation of climate change and extreme environmental and social disruption, we’re also witnessing a profound transformation taking hold in many parts of the world. It augurs the redesign of human civilization in accordance with a new paradigm that honors and emulates the wisdom of nature’s design sophistication, and that’s rooted in values of justice, equity, diversity and democracy.

It’s a revolution from the heart of nature and the human heart. From here on, the challenge is to alter the “mindscape” and advance the transformation in the shortest possible time. As Winston Churchill said, “It’s no use saying, ‘We are doing our best.’ You have got to succeed in doing what is necessary.” The way we’ll hold it together is to hold it – together. In community lies resilience.

This historic shift to become an ecologically literate and just civilization heralds a declaration of interdependence. Taking care of nature means taking care of people — and taking care of people means taking care of nature.

We can move from breakdown to breakthrough. The good news is that the solutions are largely present, or we know what directions to head in. Around the world in diverse fields of endeavor, social and scientific innovators have been developing and demonstrating far better technological, economic, social and political models. Human creativity focused on problem solving inspired by the wisdom of the natural world is eclipsing the mythology of despair.

Bioneers is a community of leadership, and in these times, we’re all called upon to be leaders. Connect with the Bioneers community of leadership and take part in the revolution from the heart of nature and the human heart…

5 Behaviours That Show You Are Reaching a Higher Level of Consciousness

If there’s one thing we know beyond any doubt, it’s that all of life is an evolutionary process. Everything, from the smallest particle in existence to the universe as a whole is in the process of evolution. Immutability is the only truth. Expansion is the point. The only question is whether or not it’s happening consciously or unconsciously. As is the case with any pursuit — whether athletic, intellectual, or spiritual — certain signs will begin to show up after a particular amount of practice has been put in, and they will come out, as they should, in your behaviour. If they don’t, then you haven’t condensed the full understanding yet– the concept has not made its way fully to the level of action.

While there is, in reality, no actual ‘higher’ level of consciousness (this is an egoic idea based on comparison) there are, undoubtedly, different modes of seeing the world, resulting, of course, in different modes of being in the world– modes of being that open us up to more relaxation, harmony and balance, even as the external world continues on in the manner it always has. There has been an inner shift.

How do we know when we’re getting it? Here are 5 behaviors that show you are reaching a higher level of consciousness.

Cleaning Out Your Energy Closet

Is Your Energy Closet Getting a Little Too Full?

It’s that time! We all dread cleaning out the closet. It can seem daunting, taxing, and laborious. Afterwards, we feel organized once everything is in its place. Our energy can act as a closet too, storing things we don’t need. There can be old wounds, grudges, or heavier energy we forgot we had in our energy closet, that no longer serve us! Are you holding onto old things you no longer need? Time to take inventory!
So how does one do this? Cleaning our energy closet involves self-reflection and taking note of your energy system, emotions, physical health, and routine. Are you happy? Are you sad? Are you full of energy and zest for life? The answers to these questions will help let you know if you need to do some “spring cleaning.”

15 Native American Proverbs That Will Speak To Your Soul

Four Proven Ways a Simple Lifestyle Reduces Stress and Makes You Healthier

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life. ~ Thoreau

Thoreau extolled the virtues of a simple lifestyle, and his impassioned plea to ‘simplify, simplify’ in Walden, is echoed by many other proponents of the simple life. Leo Tolstoy’s vision of a simple, self-sustaining lifestyle after a life of indulgence and decadence in turn influenced Gandhi’s teachings of spiritual and material austerity. Buddha taught the importance of the “Middle Way”, a life of moderation and meditation. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals and the environment, loved spending time in nature and lived an extreme version of a simplified life. Confucius believed that ‘life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated’.
